A Community Inspired by Creativity
At The West Edge, art is an essential part of the experience. Our community was designed to celebrate creativity, individuality, and the energy of music, and the artists we’ve commissioned have brought that vision to life in extraordinary ways. Their original works add texture, personality, and a truly unique dimension to our spaces—transforming hallways, lounges, and gathering areas into places of inspiration and discovery. We are continuously expanding our collection of music themed art for residents to explore and enjoy, and we are proud to showcase the talented artists whose pieces are thoughtfully placed throughout our community.
Featured Artists
Kelly Eddington:
Eddington is celebrated for her highly realistic, meticulously detailed watercolors that often mimic the depth and texture of oil paintings. She has a fearless embrace of color and precision. Film critic Roger Ebert became an early advocate of her work, moved by a portrait that featured one of his books- their friendship inspired collaborative art projects. Eddingtons paintings are held in prominent public and private collections including The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and The Little Museum of Dublin, where two of her U2- themed paintings are now part of the permanent collection.
Max Steven Grossman:
Born in Barranquilla, Colombia he is best known for his photographic series that explore the boundaries between reality and illusion. His work often involves digital manipulation to create surreal yet believable environments. Grossman photographs bookshelves from various sources and digitally assembles them into thematic libraries. These fictional libraries are printed large enough to resemble real ones, evoking nostalgia and commentary on the fading presence of physical books. His notable venues include Art Wynwood in Miami and many others.
Brian Viamontes:
Based in St. Charles IL, Viamontess work reflects the surreal, imaginative influences stemming from early inspirations from his grandfather who was from Cuba. Bright vibrant color schemes often create a 3D effect paying homage to Cuban culture and color.
Ryan Slattery:
From Cincinnati OH., Slattery is a trained sheet metal journeyman whose medium of choice is stainless steel, handcrafted from scraps of metal often found in a scrap yard. The metal is bent, welded & polished to make a gleaming piece.
Baz Cumberbatch:
Baz Cumberbatch, also known as Baz Hawaii Guitar, is a self-taught eco and botanical artist whose work is deeply rooted in the natural beauty of the Hawaiian Islands. Originally from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Baz's creative path was shaped by his grandfather, a sailboat maker, and his father, a talented carpenter and guitar maker. Bazs work has been featured in the prestigious Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
